Earth Positive: Why we love planet friendly T-shirts and tote bags
We always take care to source our products from the most sustainable retailers possible.
When take good care launched last year, we created a few T-shirts for our team to wear during events and markets, so that we could make sure everyone knew who we were! We were honoured to find that people liked not only our brand name, but the look of our ‘relax renew then resume’ slogan on the back.
Barbara shared one with her family member who works in the NHS and got this lovely photo back of our T-shirts cheering up patients. People were so keen that we realised we needed to make them more readily available, and make sure we were doing so in a sustainable way.
After a bit of research, Barbara came across Earth Positive, who call themselves “the most progressive sustainable clothing on Earth”. Their values of being organic, ethical and climate neutral perfectly match tgc’s sustainability aims and even better, the T-shirts they make are of the highest quality, using organic cotton, meaning they’re soft and comfortable.
Earth Positive say that “our apparel is made to demonstrate the highest possible environmental, social and ethical standards in one of the world’s most environmentally damaging industries.
“Earth Positive T-shirts are produced exclusively from organic Indian cotton, and the entire production process is controlled and certified. The region in India where manufacturing takes place receives up to 95% of its water from the monsoon rainfall. This reduces the need for large scale irrigation normally associated with cotton farming.”
Why we love Earth Positive
Earth Positive’s lines of clothing are made in manufacturing facilities powered by wind and solar energy, created from low-impact raw materials.
Their vertically integrated factory in Tamil Nadu, Southern India, features state-of-the-art technology and an ultra-modern infrastructure, which provide the setting for the textile industry’s leading showcase of socially and environmentally responsible production. It’s really reassuring to know that the possible carbon footprint of Earth Positive products has been reduced by some 90%.
We love that the entire Earth Positive production undergoes annual factory audits to comply with Fair Wear Foundation Code of Labour Practices. This means that not only is the material sustainable, but the people making the T-shirts are working in good conditions, and are regularly checked up on.
Earth Positive also make tote bags, so we decided to place an order for them too! Tote bags offer a very easy way to cut back on plastic shopping bags, and also look rather stylish. We’ve picked a hard-wearing cotton design from Earth Positive for the new tgc totes.
tgc gives back
For both of these products, we give back to create a circular economy. Every time we sell a take good care T-shirt, 10% goes to mental health charities in Sussex. At the moment we’re supporting Southover Counselling in Lewes, and have already raised enough for one person to go on a bereavement course.
And, if you spend over £50 on take good care in our Eastbourne shop, you will receive a free tote.
For us at take good care it’s about making sure that our products are as hard working as possible, both for our customers and for the planet!
You can buy the take good care T-shirt online for £22, while our take good care tote bags are available for £12. Both come with free delivery!
Much love
