You might have seen us dropping hints about Barbara’s next project with takegoodcare over on our social media channels in recent days. Well, it’s time to reveal that Barbara has brought takegoodcare back to where it all began, in Lewes!

We’ve launched our new shop at the Needlemakers, directly below the office Barbara was in when she thought up takegoodcare back in 2020.

“I’m proud to be back in Lewes,” says Barbara. “There are a lot of independent businesses, particularly here in the Needlemakers. Lewesians love to shop local and are loyal to the town and are supportive of our small businesses. It’s a really lovely mix to be in.”

Indeed, we’re delighted to be spreading the love of sustainable gifting and improving personal wellbeing from Eastbourne to Lewes. This is Barbara’s second venture into shop-based retail following the success of the takegoodcare pop-up shop at Eastbourne’s Beacon shopping centre.

Now she’s back in Lewes and can’t wait to meet more new people, and expand the tgc community.

“Shoppers aren’t just customers to me,” says Barbara. “They come in, look around the shop, and we end up chatting. I love to talk through things and provide a safe space for people to do so too. Most people leave almost your friends, which is lovely.

“My customers talk through their problems and stresses, and it’s a lot that I can relate to because I’ve had an interesting life myself! I love the community aspect of retail. My shop in Eastbourne became a real community hub and I hope to do the same again here in Lewes.”
