Seed cards: How one small card can flourish into a floral bouquet

Published On: December 7, 2022Categories: Eco Conscious

Seed cards are one of the best ways to give a gift that lasts longer than a single day. Whereas bunches of flowers sadly die within a day or two of being gifted, and food needs to be consumed before it goes off, giving someone the gift of a seed card will ensure the love you send on that special day lasts for months and months.

But what exactly is a seed card? Well, here at take good care we’re passionate about cutting down on waste, and so we thought seed cards would be the perfect place to start for those wanting to get into sustainability and renewable shopping.

What are seed cards?

seed cards

Seed cards are eco friendly greetings cards that have flower and fruit seeds embedded within the paper. Once your special day is over, simply cut up the card and place it in soil, give it a good water and keep in a warm place in the house.

Over the coming weeks or months the seeds within the card will germinate, and sprout to life. The rest of the card will biodegrade into the soil. You’ll soon have a flurry of wildflowers sitting on your windowsill or side table!

We source our seed cards from the aptly named Seed Card Company, which began life as a three-person project who wanted to share the love for print and create a more sustainable and eco-friendly environment for us and future generations.

Why we love seed cards

Selling seed cards from The Seed Card Company wasn’t a difficult decision for us. Here at take good care we’re passionate about the environment and know millions of people around the world feel the same way. No single individual can save the planet, but as a collective we can make the difference needed to improve our environment, restore our natural wildlife and live a greener, more sustainable life.

Seed cards are just a small example of how you can up-cycle discarded paper, sprinkle over some love, and grow a beautiful bunch of flowers.

We think they’re the perfect birthday or Christmas card for anyone who wants to help an eco-sceptic think more sustainably.

They’re also beautiful. The designers at The Seed Card Company have created gorgeous prints on their chlorine- and acid-free paper, using eco-friendly inks. Each card comes with an up-cycled envelope, and you can get a special offer if you buy multiple cards at our Eastbourne store in The Foundry.

If you can’t get down to our store, which is part of The Beacon shopping centre, then you can order seed cards for free online at takegoodcare.co.uk and get free delivery on all orders!

Much love
